Early Life and Education

Sarah Palin was born on February 11, 1964, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Her father was a schoolteacher and her mother was a nurse.

Palin attended Wasilla High School, where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. She graduated in 1982 and went on to attend the University of Idaho.

Political Career

Palin began her political career in 1992, when she was elected to the Wasilla City Council.

In 1996, Palin was elected Mayor of Wasilla. She served in that position for two terms.

Governor of Alaska

In 2006, Palin was elected Governor of Alaska. She was the youngest person and the first woman to hold that office.

Palin's tenure as governor was marked by controversy. She was criticized for her handling of the "Troopergate" scandal and her support for the "Bridge to Nowhere."

Republican Vice Presidential Nominee

In 2008, Palin was selected as the Republican vice presidential nominee. She ran on a ticket with John McCain.

The McCain-Palin ticket lost the election to Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Post-Political Career
